How to Add an Image to a PDF
Updated July 13, 2026
Adding a graphic to a finished PDF usually means reopening the source document just to drop in a logo or a signature. There’s a faster way when all you need is to place an image on top of existing pages.
Steps
- Open Add Image to PDF and drop your PDF above (or click to select).
- Choose a PNG or JPG image and set its position, size, and opacity.
- Click Add image, then download the PDF.
Position, size, and opacity
The image anchors to any of nine points — the four corners, the four edge midpoints, or dead center — and scales relative to the page width, so it looks right whether the PDF is A4 or letter. Opacity is adjustable too, which lets a logo sit boldly in a corner or fade back like a watermark. You can apply the image to every page or restrict it to just the first, which is useful for a letterhead or a cover page that shouldn’t repeat.
PNG for transparency, JPG for photos
If your image is a logo or icon with a transparent background, use PNG — the transparency carries through so only the artwork shows, not a white box around it. For photos, JPG works fine. Either way, the image is embedded directly into the PDF’s page content.
Notes
Everything runs locally in your browser, so nothing is uploaded — your PDF and image stay on your device. If you need repeating text rather than an image, use Add Watermark; to place an image as a full-page background instead of a discrete element, use Add Background.
