Notes and limits
The focus is faithful tables and data: cell values (including formula results) and multi-sheet structure are preserved. Charts, conditional formatting, and exact column styling aren't reproduced — for a pixel-perfect copy, export to PDF from Excel itself. To convert a Word document instead, use Word to PDF.
How the reader interprets your workbook
The converter parses the .xlsx file's XML directly in your browser — a spreadsheet is a zip archive of XML sheets under the hood — reading each cell's value, its computed formula result rather than the formula itself, and basic number formatting like currency or percentages. Column widths and row heights are used to size the table, and numeric cells are right-aligned while text is left-aligned, which keeps columns of numbers readable the way they are in Excel.
Where large or busy sheets need care
A sheet with far more columns than fit on an A4 page will wrap or shrink to stay on the page, which can make a wide financial model cramped — for those, consider trimming to the columns you actually need to share, or exporting from Excel in landscape if row-by-row fidelity matters more than a compact file. Merged cells and named ranges are read for their visible values, but the interactive pivot-table behavior itself doesn't carry over, since a PDF has no live data underneath it.
Sharing a full report
If your report is really a workbook plus a written summary, convert the summary with Word to PDF and use Merge PDF to combine them into one file before sending it out.
